Of all the miracles in the Bible, in your opinion, what is the best (or your favorite) display of God’s power? Or, if you can’t decide, what are your top three?
Digging In
You’ve gotta admit, God has a lot of power. But His daily go-to power isn’t seen in miraculous healings or in the suspension of natural laws. It’s much more personal, and intimate. As you read about this power in the passages below, do this:
- Draw a mini-fireworks over the word “power” whenever you see it and a sunburst over the word “raised.”
- After reading and marking the passage, write in the space below everything these verses say about God’s power and about anything that’s raised.
God’s Power/Anything That’s Raised
Taking It Inward
Raising Jesus from the dead was no small feat. That act took some power! What’s cool is that we have that same power available to us and we can know it intimately. Meditate on that truth for a few minutes. Think and pray about how this power can impact your life daily in areas such as these:
Family concerns
Dating relationships Friendships School stress
|
Temptations
Emotions Attitudes
|
Seal the Deal
This resurrection power can give you the ability to do things that you never thought you could do: beat a recurring temptation, release a grudge, sacrificially give money or time, offer forgiveness, gain strength for a scary life situation, heal from a hurt, even ramp up your Bible time and prayer life.
In fact, take a moment to complete the sentence below using the different prompts noted.
Because I can intimately know the power of Jesus’ resurrection:
I will resist…
I can overcome… I will hope for… I will avoid… I will seek…
|
I will meditate on…
I will embrace… I will accept… I will forgive… I will love…
|
I will give…
I will make… I will start… I will quit…

It’s been said that if the devil can’t get you to sin, then he’ll make you busy. He will also try to make you forget (which can be a by-product of busyness). God has given us access to many powerful things, but if we forget we have those things, they do us no good. This is a truth you never want to forget: the power of Christ’s resurrection is in you. So that you have a constant reminder, write the first letter of each word of that phrase on something you’ll see every day:

Ephesians 1:18-21
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
Romans 8:11
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Colossians 3:1–4
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
